Emma ROCA (ESP)

It is with great sadness that the MARATHON DES SABLES team learned today of the disappearance of Emma ROCA (ESP), following a devastating illness, at just 47 years old.

Emma participated in the MARATHON DES SABLES in 2011 with a superb second place. She had splashed the bivouac with its simplicity and especially with the way she approached sport. A high-level athlete, she advocated an extremely healthy approach to sport, all in balance : diet, hydration, sleep and just the right amount of training were part of what she needed for personal growth.

And this is why her life did not stop with her sports career : entrepreneur, firefighter, Doctor in biochemistry, writer, she excelled of course in trail-running but also in ski-mountaineering, mountain biking, duathlon, adventure raids... Beyond the athlete, she was a complete and balanced woman, who helped others to grow, to fulfill themselves.

Emma, ​​we will be thinking of you and your loved ones in the Moroccan sands in October...
