FINISHER LESSON

The traditional pre-race briefing reminded the participants of the 38th MDS LEGENDARY of the precautions to take when tackling this desert crossing. It was followed by the photo of the edition number seen from the sky, a true moment of communion.

Taking the start of the MDS LEGENDARY means tackling something huge. Many parameters come into play: sand, heat, weight of the backpack... Not being able to complete the adventure is a possibility. Quitting is not a shame, there is no high-level athlete who has not experienced failure. The priority is the physical integrity of each person. Moreover, 38 participants present at this 38th MDS Legendary did not finish the previous edition: it is a great proof of courage to come back and take revenge.

So how do you get to the end of the adventure while having as much fun as possible and suffering as little as possible? By taking the first step as a warm-up that will allow everyone to discover the particularities of the desert and their body to acclimatize. The objective: to stay in the green zone. On the second stage, some will wonder what they are doing there, that's normal. There are days with it, and days without it. The third stage, The Long One , arrives a day earlier than in previous years. Participants will thus be less tired. This stage is scary, but it will leave the most beautiful memories of a runner’s life. All you will then have to do is manage the fourth and fifth stages with your brain, since the bodies will have accepted the previous requests. The sixth step? A formality, the smell of the stable carrying everyone to the finish line.

In such an adventure, the key word in any case is adaptability: being able to change your plans, to let the storm pass are part of the Finisher's tools.
