TEAM DLM : Oukili Lakhdar (D6-MAR), Abdelaziz El Kamel (D7-MAR), Michael Vergin (D4-FRA)

TEAM DLM: TEAM SPIRIT A WATCHWORD

There were four competitors at the start sporting the colours of Delattre Levivier Maroc (DLM), a company specialised in metal construction and boilerworks. There are just three of them, one of them, Benaïssa Benali (vest 5), having been forced to retire due to injury (torn ligaments).
His teammates obviously regret what happened, but prefer to place the emphasis on group spirit. “The team spirit and solidarity at all times are the only values which guide us. We will remain united all the way to the end so we can share all the happy moments together that the Marathon des Sables throws our way, despite all the difficulties, and honour DLM”, Michael Vergin admits.
Indeed it was DLMC’s managers who decided to sponsor those members of staff who wish to participate in the Marathon des Sables. The different candidates underwent trials along the course of the Marrakech Marathon and during the Bouskoura race (15km) before proceeding with the final selection process.
It’s an honour for us to represent our company in one of the most beautiful races in the world. Our objective is to finish the race together in good health and to return with a great many memories and lessons learned, which will be of use to us in our professional and private life, including pushing back your limits, mutual aid and team spirit…

This too is what gives the Marathon des Sables its reputation, an experience “which you should have at least once in your life” said the team’s elder, Oukili Lakhdar.
