I was diagnosed with terminal (T4) Prostate cancer aged just 49 and told I may only have 2 years to live. The MDS was the only thing on my bucket list and after running 2 marathons on chemotherapy in 2015 I set foot on the start line of the 31st MDS in 2016. That and every year since I return to complete the race as it reminds me of how lucky I am to be alive and how privilidged I am to be in the Sahara again.
Since diagnosis I have run 1,000s of miles for charity in many countries and encouraged others to join me collectively raising over £600,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.
I believe I am the only person with any type of T4 cancer to have completed the MDS 4 times, hopefully 5 come April 2020!
37th edition ~ From April 21st to May 1st 2023 ~ 250 km in 7 days
