Each year, parent / child couples participate in MARATHON DES SABLES. This year, three of them caught our attention: the French Marie and Léa REGE, the Canadians Jack and Aaron DAVISON, and the British Hector and Paul SKIPWORTH.
Aaron, 52, lives in Canada with his son Jack. Doctor, he has already finished 3 MDS in the middle of the pack. « It’ll be my fourth time in Morocco and I can’t wait to share it with my son. So proud of him. » At age 16, Jack will be the youngest competitor of the 34th edition of MARATHON DES SABLES. He is an excellent high school student, and he is also very good at tennis, violin and piano. All this will serve him little in the heart of the Sahara, but he can count on the experience of his father!
Barely older, Hector will be only 17 years old at the start of the 34th MARATHON DES SABLES. Besides the father / son adventure that makes them both dream, the duo also comes to support an association: « Hector is raising money for Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis, (“OMS”), a charity for people with MS. Hector’s mother, my wife Harriet has MS. Hector is a student at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, Scotland and has played rugby for the Scotland U16 squad. » Hector also can count on the experience of his father: this 50 guy has already finished the MDS once.
Léa is a little older than her two accomplices: at 25, she already has a little experience in life, but she also looks forward to the start of the 34th MDS: "We want to test ourselves and challenge our physical abilities, but also to share this experience with two and with the other participants. I am very proud of her and when she offered me this adventure mother / daughter I accepted.” And Marie, her mother, to bid, very enthusiastic: "To share an event such as MARATHON DES SABLES with my daughter is for me an experience that puts me in front of the stars, which will surely weld us even more, to get to know each other in a different way, to share the same things and to give me wonderful memories afterwards."
