Hi! My name is Moerieda and love to run really far!!! I fell in love with ultrarunning whilst searching for that elusive “work-life” balance at the age of… wait… 40! I have finished quite a few ultras in the last 5 years and I have decided I am now ready to take on Marathon Des Sables.
Running the MDS is a personal challenge I have set for myself since I started running in 2011. Surviving this challenge is going to test my limits both physically and mentally - yet it won't be anything that could ever compare to the hardship felt by a young child left vulnerable...
I have been inspired by the incredible work Hope For Children is doing to empower these young children and their families to improve their lives and that of their community. I want to support them by raising money as part of my participation in Marathon des Sables 2017.
At Hope, we passionately believe that everyone should have a childhood that offers them the foundations for a healthy, happy and positive future. This is what drives our work every day and the vision we commit to.
Hope for Children work tirelessly to help children reach their full potential. In 2016 they helped over 37,000 children and their families in Africa, Asia and the UK. All of their work to help children and their families is categorized into 3 themes – Education, Health and empowering families.
They have projects in 7 different countries. All of the places they work in have unique social and economic circumstances which present different challenges to children and their families. They currently work in Ghana, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uganda, UKand Tanzania.
The more people that know about Hope For Children, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.
