OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE RACE DIRECTORAnnouncement of the Kingdom of Morocco
As I said in my last video—"Waiting for the MDS" number 9—I strongly advised each and every one of you to get vaccinated so as not to be surprised two and a half months before the start of our beautiful event for which you have prepared several times due to the successive postponements caused by this global health crisis. Let's anticipate the worst because the best will never surprise us!
This advice is becoming a necessity as the Kingdom of Morocco has just announced that to enter its territory from France, Spain, and Portugal, travellers will need to be vaccinated and produce a negative PCR test of less than 48 hours. These three countries join a red list of more than 80 countries affected by the same restrictions. Will this list increase or decrease? To date, no one can say!
All those who have not been vaccinated will also have to produce a negative PCR test of less than 48 hours and undergo a ten-day quarantine on arrival in Morocco in a hotel designated by the Moroccan authorities, at their own expense, accompanied by proof of payment.
On the 9th day of quarantine, the traveller must produce a second negative PCR test.
In addition, the organisation team will require a waiver of financial and medical responsibility in the event of evacuation due to Covid-19, in accordance with our insurance providers.
Finally, participants affected by these restrictions will have to arrange their own flights to Morocco ten days before the event, at their own expense.
Faced with such measures, we can only conclude that a general vaccination is necessary for all (participants, media, staff, service providers, etc.) in order to arrive in Morocco with an up-to-date vaccination passport and a vaccine officially recognised by the Moroccan government. This will enable us to share this event more serenely.
Don't waste time and take into account the time you'll need between the two doses and the 14 days required after your second injection.
I'm counting on you because we're all looking forward to meeting in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara to celebrate this long awaited 35th anniversary!
See you soon under the stars...
