POSTPONEMENT OF THE 35th MARATHON DES SABLES TO OCTOBER 2021

Dear friends,

Following Patrick BAUER's trip to Morocco at the start of the year, the health situation in both Morocco and France and in the forty or so countries from which our participants come, and the prospects in terms of the travel possibilities in the coming months, we have made the decision to postpone the 35th MARATHON DES SABLES to 01-12 October 2021.

The MARATHON DES SABLES is about solidarity, sharing, benevolence, human warmth. The MARATHON DES SABLES is about kissing, laughing and crying together, in the tent, on the trails and on the finish line. And the MARATHON DES SABLES is also about safety, one of the values that have always been anchored in our body and mind. We are not here to put you at risk, to fill your mind with doubts, to settle you in a climate of uncertainty. It is our responsibility to be as clear as possible and to facilitate the work of the participants as much as possible upstream, because on site, they will have enough with these 250 km of hot desert to cover!

This new postponement will have consequences for each of our participants, and we will of course take into account all personal situations. But postponing today, 70 days from the scheduled date, also means allowing everyone to validate an already anticipated situation, to evacuate this stress which was mounting more and more, and to leave with a liberated mind towards a new start on October 1st.

We are eager to meet the great family of MARATHON DES SABLES gathered in the Moroccan desert, and to share with all of you who follow us this legendary event after this regrettable but necessary parenthesis.
