REVIEW OF THE 37TH MARATHON DES SABLES

The 37th edition of the MARATHON DES SABLES has just ended, and it is going straight into legend! Difficult but magnificent, it crowns two new winners. Can't wait for the 38th edition from April 12 to 22, 2024!

With nearly 30% dropouts and disqualifications, this 37th edition of the MARATHON DES SABLES proved to be the second most difficult edition after that of October 2021. The main difficulty: the heat, around 40°C every day around noon, complicating progress, hydration, nutrition, recovery. Under these conditions, we take our hat off to the 765 participants who won their medals and obtained the title of FINISHER: a huge congratulations to you!

Among these 765 Finishers, we would particularly like to congratulate the Frenchman Christian GINTER who completed his 35th MARATHON DES SABLES, out of 35 participations! This is of course the absolute record, and a living proof of perseverance, abnegation and will. Well done Christian! A big congratulations also to Lys GIRARD FIALON (FRA), the youngest participant of this edition at 16 years old. She finished 45th woman, and you can watch her cross portrait with her father Grégory on the second day of racing.

The MARATHON DES SABLES is also a fierce sporting competition, and this year, Mohamed EL MORABITY (MAR) and Maryline NAKACHE (FRA) emerged victorious. Mohamed offers himself a first title after being five times second behind his brother, and Maryline takes advantage of a terrible failure of the Dutch Ragna DEBATS, big favorite, to win.
