One of the targets established by Vision 2020 (a plan to see Morocco become one of the top 20 tourist destinations by 2020) is to make Morocco a model of sustainability in the Mediterranean.
Since 2006, the principles of the Responsible Tourism Programme initiated by the MNTO have been to preserve Moroccan culture, values, traditions and identity, and to ensure that tourism involves economic and social development, with concrete action like raising public awareness, the “Responsible Traveller Guide”, and the creation of the Moroccan Responsible Tourism Awards for projects that foster sustainability.
The MNTO is a partner of the Mohamed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment (FM6e) on the programmes “Clef Verte”, “Clean Beaches”, the “Blue Flag Label” and the protection of the Marrakech Oasis.
