Antonio ALONGI (ITA-D457)

« The desert must be respected »

Among the very first today at CP1, Antonio ALONGI (ITA) is currently running his third MARATHON DES SABLES. After a 12th place in 2017 and a 5th in 2019, he is currently in 10th position in the general classification.

« I start to know this wonderful race and I start with it to know and understand how to behave in the desert, but I will not let you down guard because the desert must be respected, the race is full of pitfalls and it is very long… Anything could happen, in the desert the minimum error or a small oversight on very expensive pay. I want to go back inside that wonderful atmosphere inside the camp and it has to wear Berber tents and to revisit and relive the sand under your feet, the wind that splashes in your face the grains of sand that will accompany you even once the race is over (because you will continue to find them with you even at home), the sun is very hostile but it makes you special by illuminating with a particular light the landscape and the immensity of the still blue of the night filled only by millions of stars that will accompany you constantly even during the long stage. »
