RUNNING FOR A CAUSE
For the last three decades, all MARATHON DES SABLES participants have agreed: there’s no denying the physical performance, but the MDS experience is above all a human adventure. During those ten days in the Sahara, sharing is the driving force that helps you keep moving on. Many want to share beyond the race and associate their participation with a noble cause. Whether it’s raising funds for charity, an operation in a school, or increasing awareness of a disease, the examples are many and varied. It started with participants from English-speaking countries, especially Great Britain, where running for charity is the norm, but the spirit has spread through the caravan. Push yourself further, yes, but as long as it’s for a good cause, to help those whose lives haven’t been so easy. To highlight these operations, “Competitors’ Corner” on the MARATHONDESSABLES.COM website will be the information point.
