STAGE 6 - LEAD RACE: Aziza EL AMRANY WINS THE 38TH LEGENDARY MARATHON DES SABLES

Aziza EL AMRANY wins the day's stage and her first LEGENDARY MARATHON DES SABLES. She is the third Moroccan woman to win this legendary desert event.

Aziza EL AMRANY (D7-MAR) won the final stage of the 38th MARATHON DES SABLES LEGENDARY in style, with a time of 1h41'21'', putting her in a fine 16th place overall on the day. Aziza's domination of this 38th edition is only strengthened by her imperious performance from start to finish. Aziza RAJI (D9-MAR) crossed the line 15 minutes later, also confirming her second place overall. And surprise, surprise: it was France's Laurence KLEIN (D160-FRA) who took third place on the day, once again demonstrating all the resources at her disposal.

A THIRD MOROCCAN WINNER

With this victory, Aziza EL AMRANY becomes the third Moroccan woman to win the MARATHON DES SABLES LEGENDARY, after Touda DIDI (2008 and 2009) and Aziza RAJI (2021). She crushed the competition this year, beating Aziza RAJI by more than 2 hours and third-placed Gemma GAME (D204-GBR) by more than 5 hours! Gemma produced a consistent run to claim third place once again (2018, 2019, 2024).

IN THE TOP 10

There were plenty of first-timers in the Top 10, proof of good support and preparation prior to the adventure. Rajaa HAMDAOUA (D576-FRA), in fourth place, and Amélie GINTER (D8-FRA), in seventh place, are two fine examples of these newcomers who are likely to make their mark in the years to come.

Despite her superb third place on the day, Laurence KLEIN remains 21st overall. But there is no doubt that this medal carries far more weight than its real weight in the mind of the three-time winner.
