Sandrine and Marc PRIGENT (FRA)

"If at 50 you did not do the MDS..."

Sandrine and Marc PRIGENT (FRA) are a very close and harmonious couple: these Montargois are both 51 years old, are both interior designers, are both regular runners, and both participate in sports events. They ran the marathons of Paris, New York and London together. And then, of course, there was the MARATHON DES SABLES that made their dream: "We decided to test our limits on the MDS, something to do once in a lifetime. And Sandrine adds ironically: "If at 50 you did not do the MDS, then..."

To keep fit and prepare for their ordeals, both spouses run 50 to 60 km per week, in 4 times. Of course, the desert challenge frightens them, but they have tried on other smaller tests to test the physical, the mental, and the material: "We probably would not have dared to go to the MDS without attempting before smaller races."

The couple hopes to live on the MDS "A week out of time, with only thought our race! It will be a saving week for our minds on the verge of burnout..." A third fellow, Frédéric, also a member of the family, will complete the trio. For the moment, they do not know if they will run together or if everyone will make their own race: "We find it difficult to set the same pace on such distances. " And still, the trio is not devoid of competitive spirit, and it can be difficult to restrain yourself when you see others leave faster.

Sandrine is particularly afraid of snakes, and all three are a little afraid of the climate, which is quite different from that of the Montargis region. The weight of the bag will also be an unknown to manage, as evokes Sandrine: "I do not want to exceed 7 kg, I measure only 1.56 and weigh only ... 47 kg! " So the food and material choices will be drastic...

The MDS is an adventure that is well prepared in advance, and which remains for many, as Sandrine says, "The biggest challenge of my life."
