"HMDS MOROCCO gave me confidence in my abilities"

Lauren VASQUEZ (D266–FRA)

Lauren played football at the highest level, and like many women footballers, running was a bit of a punishment: "I started running just for my health two years ago. It was a real discovery for me, because I thought running was boring. I discovered that running in the mud, sand, wind and rain brought out the child in me and that it was a real pleasure. I'm discovering my abilities as I go along and I'm very surprised.

This MARATHON DES SABLES LEGENDARY is a first for Lauren, but she has given herself an advantage in tackling the desert legend: "I took part in the HMDS Maroc 2023, so that makes me a little more comfortable with the idea of the MDS LEGENDARY. It's given me confidence in my abilities. But I'm well aware that it's longer and hotter.

Another asset for Lauren is her rigorous preparation. Aware that the MDS LEGENDARY is no walk in the park, she has surrounded herself with specialists to make sure she doesn't make any mistakes: "I took advantage of the physical preparation programme for women with Laurence KLEIN set up by the MDS for the first time. I listen to the advice, write it down and apply it wisely". And it's working: Lauren finished stage5 this lunchtime, and is 35th in the women's rankings. She's on course to win her medal tomorrow!
