Josette LOURY (D72-FRA)

“There is an age where it is good to be a little crazy and crazy.“

At 70 years old, Josette will be the oldest of the women present at this 37th edition, but also a neophyte on the MARATHON DES SABLES! “There is an age where it is good to be a little crazy and crazy. "And it was indeed on a "stroke of madness" that Josette registered for the MDS: "A bet with a friend met on the great crossing of the Atlas after the ascent of the 4 highest peaks... Bingo registration made with Mat 38 years old! “Yes, there is no age to take on crazy challenges!

Josette has traveled the roads by running for years, but today she has turned to mountain trekking. So the MDS, she prepares to do it by walking, like about 3% of the peloton each year. The minimum speed to complete the stages, of around 3.3 km/h, in fact means that you don't have to run a single step on the course but still get to the end of the event... without dragging, of course!

The oldest of the peloton can count on her good mind and her ability to walk for a long time; its downside is the bag, its weight, and of course the choices on what to pack. Every gram counts, difficult to decide between a little more comfort, but more weight on the shoulders... "I think day and night about this event, with sometimes chills and fears..."

A huge congratulations to Josette who would like to thank the entire MDS community for sharing their experience and the advice given to prepare for the event.
