Julie TURCOT (D360-FRA)

“I am passionate about sports”

Julie Turcot, 34, has been a firefighter in Marseille for 12 years. This job was a vocation for her: “I have been passionate about sport and the world of firefighters since I was little. Logically, Julie has been doing a lot of sport since she was very young, and she started trail running 5 years ago, with the MARATHON DES SABLES in mind: "I've always dreamed of it, waiting for the moment when I'll be ready. ”

It is therefore during the 37th edition that Julie will discover the Moroccan desert, even if she has already experienced the stage race in the Peruvian desert in 2019. These events are of course an opportunity for her to take on a sporting challenge, to meet new people, but also to talk about the association Des étoiles dans la mer, which helps research into glioblastoma, an incurable brain tumour.

Indeed, Julie's father was affected by this disease in 2015. "My father is a warrior, he survived six and a half years, I also want to do like him, fight against adversity, in my level. So the MDS will be an opportunity to defend this association and raise funds, without forgetting of course to cross the finish line! “My goal on the MDS is to finish it of course. ”
